an ode to my girls | Athena Talks

See original poem here: an ode to my girls | Athena Talks

afro puffs and braided hair
dodging the peak time oyster fare
laughing too loud but we don’t care
show me my london girls

primark jeans on bursting hips
lollipops meet ruby woo lips
scoffing down those too-salt chips
show me my London girls

therapy sessions on playground swings
tending our heartbreak and broken wings
loving all that sisterhood brings
show me my London girls

harmonising with our mothers’ song
learning to be both soft and strong
creating a world in which we belong
show me my london girls
